How Do I Get To Saint James-Kingstowne? What Should I Wear? What's Worship Like? Worship at Saint James is a blend of ancient and modern. We begin worship by singing songs of praise to the Lord. Words to the songs--and anything else you need to know during the service--are projected onto a large screen in the front of the sanctuary. The Scripture for the week is read aloud. Often, the pastor uses a short clip from a movie to introduce the theme of the week's message. A message is preached that tries to weave together the Biblical witness with the struggles we face in our own lives. After the message, we pray together as a community of faith, then share in Communion. We end our worship with a song, then take our worship experience out into the world. Tell me more about Communion... We serve unfermented grape juice and fresh bread during Communion. The congregation forms a line and each person receives a small piece of bread. Then, he/she dips his/her bread in the cup of grape juice and eats it. |
