What to expect Sunday at Saint James

Worship begins at 10am. If you're a little early or a little late, don't worry that you will interrupt the space. You're welcome to come in and find a place to sit. Didn't have time to stop for coffee? That's okay. We have plenty to share with you.

Many churches say "Come as you are," but we really mean it. We dress in a way that makes us feel comfortable. Don't worry that you won't fit in...we truly want to meet you exactly as you are in a space where God is calling all of us to be. We have nametags available. If you feel comfortable, put one on. Feel free to share your pronouns with us too.

Worship can look different from week to week. Sometimes our services are built around conversations, sometimes it's pastoral reflection, and occasionally we get to play around, make a little mess, and explore what it means to be made in the image of the Creative God. Here's what you CAN count on: we receive Communion every week. We use only delicious, gluten-free elements because we know that God's table is filled with abundant deliciousness that nourishes our bodies and our souls.

We fully welcome children into our worship space. We know that kids can be noisy, they can be messy, and they can be wiggly and that's exactly who God made them to be! We celebrate all that they are now and all they will grow to be in their lives! We offer a space for quiet play and creative endeavors for people of any age in our worship space because we know that even when it doesn't seem like kids are engaging, they are soaking up the worship experience in a way that will impact who they understand God to be. Bring your kids to church. Bring the wiggly babies, the toddling toddlers, the early readers, the kids with confidence and the kids with anxiety, bring the wondering tweens, and the angsty teens. There is a place for them at St. James UMC.
